Helen Mirren Defends Tom Hardy Amid MobLand Exit Rumors, Says She’d Return “In a F----ing Heartbeat”

Helen Mirren has publicly backed her MobLand co-star Tom Hardy amid ongoing rumors about his future on the hit Paramount+ crime drama. The Oscar-winning actress dismissed speculation of a rift between the pair and said she would happily work with Hardy again.

Speaking to Variety, Mirren praised Hardy’s talent and rejected claims that tensions on set had damaged their relationship.

“I love Tom, I think he's the most amazing actor,” Mirren said. “Different actors have different processes. I've learnt over the years that some people get to things faster. As long as what's on the screen is fantastic, I'm totally chilled with however someone gets there.”

She added, “Tom is a very special person. I think he's absolutely remarkable. My support of him is genuine and heartfelt.”

Tom Hardy MobLand Firing Rumors Continue

The comments come after weeks of reports suggesting Hardy had been fired from MobLand ahead of a potential third season.

Several industry reports alleged that the actor's behavior during production of Season 2 created friction behind the scenes. Claims included Hardy arriving late, remaining in his trailer for extended periods, and clashing with executive producer Jez Butterworth over scripts and creative decisions.

Some reports also suggested that cast members, including Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan, were left waiting on set because of delays linked to Hardy.

However, more recent reports from major entertainment outlets have disputed claims that Hardy was officially dismissed from the series.

According to sources cited by Variety, Hardy has not been fired and discussions about his future with the show remain ongoing.

A production source stated that “the door is not closed for Season 3” and that creative issues are currently being worked through.

Helen Mirren Shuts Down Bad Blood Claims

Mirren's latest comments strongly contradict rumors that she was frustrated by Hardy’s alleged behavior.

Addressing the challenges of working on a major production, the actress said creative disagreements are common when strong personalities collaborate.

“When you have powerful artistic people working together, the creative process is challenging,” Mirren explained. “People will get their knickers in a twist as we say. We will go forward, absolutely, and it will be even better.”

The actress has repeatedly shown support for Hardy in recent weeks. She previously shared a photo of him on social media with the caption, “Love you now and always, Helen,” while reportedly disabling comments to avoid further speculation.

Mirren has also praised Hardy’s professionalism and criticized what she described as inaccurate reporting surrounding the controversy.

Why Tom Hardy Remains Important to MobLand

Despite reports of behind-the-scenes tensions, Hardy remains one of the key reasons for MobLand’s success.

The actor stars as Harry Da Souza, the show's central fixer and one of its most popular characters. Industry observers have noted that the Paramount+ series has become one of the streaming service’s strongest-performing original dramas outside of the Taylor Sheridan franchise.

Sources close to the production reportedly acknowledge that while creative disagreements may have occurred, Hardy’s performance remains vital to the future of the series.

Executive producer Guy Ritchie is said to be involved in ongoing discussions aimed at finding a path forward for a potential third season.

MobLand Season 2 and Season 3 Status

Season 2 of MobLand has already completed filming and is expected to premiere on Paramount+ later this year, although an official release date has not yet been announced.

Paramount+ has also not formally renewed the series for Season 3. However, multiple reports indicate that discussions are continuing behind the scenes to resolve creative differences and secure Hardy’s return.

For now, Helen Mirren’s public endorsement has added significant support to Hardy’s position, signaling that at least one of the show's biggest stars remains firmly in his corner as speculation surrounding MobLand’s future continues.
