Adria Arjona Reveals Intense Workout for Superman: Man of Tomorrow

Adria Arjona is taking her preparation for Superman: Man of Tomorrow seriously—and her workout routine is anything but easy.

The 34-year-old actress recently opened up about her training in a new video for Women’s Health. While preparing for her mystery role in the upcoming Superman sequel, Arjona said she can spend more than three hours a day working out.

“I wake up. I do cardio for about 45 minutes,” Arjona explained. “Then I do weightlifting for about two hours.”

But her training does not stop there. After eating, she returns for six rounds of boxing before eating again and eventually heading to bed.

“It’s a job,” she said. “I’m really enjoying it. I’m enjoying the transformation, but it’s hard work.”

Arjona said the demanding routine has made her feel stronger than ever. She also credits the excitement of her upcoming role for keeping her motivated.

“Physically, it’s exhausting, but it’s all for the greater good,” she said.

Boxing Has Been a Big Part of Her Training

Boxing has played an important role in Arjona’s fitness journey for years. She has trained with her boxing coach, Nikki, for about a decade, including when she is not preparing for a movie.

For Arjona, boxing is about more than physical strength. She says it helps her stay focused and has given her greater confidence.

“You have to be so present at boxing because you can get punched,” she explained. “Boxing has made me so confident.”

She also believes the sport has helped her learn new skills faster. That confidence has carried over into acting, learning choreography and performing stunts.

“I just feel strong,” Arjona said.

Her Superman Role Remains a Mystery

Arjona’s character in Man of Tomorrow has not been officially revealed. However, reports have suggested that she could be playing Maxima, the powerful warrior queen from Superman comics who becomes interested in Superman.

The film is being written and directed by James Gunn and will follow the events of the 2025 Superman movie, which starred David Corenswet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.

Nicholas Hoult is also expected to return as Lex Luthor, while Lars Eidinger is set to play another major Superman villain, Brainiac.

Arjona Says She Has Complete Trust in James Gunn

Arjona is especially excited to work with Gunn again. The two have previously worked together, giving them an established relationship before production on the new film.

“He’s just the coolest dude,” Arjona said, calling Gunn a “mastermind” and “brilliant.”

She said their existing friendship means they can start the project with complete trust rather than having to build that relationship from scratch.

“I can just show up to work, and trust, and have no doubt, because I know that he’s got my back,” she said.

Superman: Man of Tomorrow is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2027.
