Broadway Actor Aaron Lazar's Family Raises Funds for ALS Care

Broadway, TV, and film actor Aaron Lazar is facing more than $300,000 a year in healthcare costs as he continues to live with ALS, a progressive neurological disease.

Lazar, 50, was diagnosed with ALS in January 2022. His brother, Chad, and father, Paul, have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for his treatment, full-time caregiving, medical equipment, and specialized therapies. By late Wednesday, the fundraiser had raised more than $315,000.

According to the campaign, Lazar has lost the use of his legs, arms, and hands and relies on a BiPAP machine to help him breathe. His family said his condition has made it difficult for him to earn an income while raising his two teenage sons.

The fundraiser says the donations will help provide financial stability and allow Lazar to focus on spending time with his family while continuing his fight against the disease.

Lazar is known for Broadway productions including A Little Night Music and Dear Evan Hansen. His screen credits include The Wolf of Wall Street, Avengers: Endgame, Girl Meets World, and All My Children. His most recent on-screen role was in the 2025 Prime Video series Countdown.

Earlier this year, Lazar attended the ALS Network's Champions for Cures and Care gala in Pasadena, where he accepted the Advocate of the Year Award on behalf of actor Eric Dane, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2024.
