Annette Bening Reveals the Simple Ritual That Helps Her Unwind After Filming

Annette Bening has revealed the simple routine that helps her unwind after spending long days immersed in demanding roles. The Oscar-nominated actress, 68, says that after filming her latest Apple TV+ thriller Lucky, she heads home to relax with her 97-year-old mother, Shirley, watching baseball while enjoying a glass of wine. Shirley, who lives with Bening and her husband Warren Beatty, keeps to her own tradition of having a single martini and potato chips at 5:30 p.m.

Bening describes her mother as an "incredible" and "remarkable" woman who loves reading, solving crossword puzzles, and even reviewing her scripts. She says quiet evenings with family are the perfect way to leave intense characters behind.

In Lucky, Bening plays Priscilla, a powerful crime boss opposite Anya Taylor-Joy, whose character is drawn into a high-stakes heist gone wrong. The series also stars Timothy Olyphant, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Clifton Collins Jr., and Drew Starkey. Bening said she was drawn to the project by its stylish tone and exceptional cast.

New episodes of Lucky stream every Wednesday on Apple TV+ through Aug. 19.
