Erin Moriarty Says She Filmed The Boys Sex Scene While Battling a Serious Staph Infection

Erin Moriarty has revealed that she filmed an intimate scene for The Boys while suffering from a severe staph infection.

Speaking on the MesSy podcast, the actress said she developed the infection during the production of season 2 after becoming physically run down. She explained that the infection became so serious she could not move her right arm.

Moriarty said she informed the production team about her condition before filming Starlight's first sex scene with Hughie, played by Jack Quaid. According to her, the only change to the night's schedule was to film the intimate scene.

She recalled warning the crew about the severity of the infection and said people did not fully understand how serious it was until they saw it. She said some then urged her to go to the emergency room.

Moriarty said that, early in her career, she felt pressure to accept difficult working conditions and avoid complaining. She added that she wanted to prove she was a reliable team player, so she completed the scene despite being in significant pain.

The actress, who revealed last year that she had been diagnosed with Graves' disease, said the experience taught her the importance of speaking up about her health and having her concerns taken seriously.
