George Clooney and family evacuate as wildfires force mass departures in France

George Clooney, his wife Amal, and their 9-year-old twins have evacuated their home in southeastern France as wildfires continue to spread across parts of Southern Europe.

In a letter to Brignoles mayor Didier Brémond, the couple said they did not know whether their home would survive the fires. They expressed support for the local community and pledged to help rebuild if needed.

The Clooneys moved to a farm in France to give their children a quieter life away from Hollywood and media attention. George Clooney has previously said the family enjoys a more normal lifestyle there.

The wildfires have forced large-scale evacuations across France and Spain. In France's Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, about 3,000 people have been evacuated. In the southwest, around 224,000 people have fled the Gironde region. French officials say it could be the country's largest peacetime evacuation, while the Associated Press reports the fires in southwest France have grown to around four times the size of Paris.
