Hilaria Baldwin Responds to 'Gold Digger' Claims, Says She Wanted an Equal Relationship

Hilaria Baldwin says accusations that she married Alec Baldwin for his money were hurtful and untrue.

Speaking on SiriusXM's Page Six Radio, Hilaria said she refused expensive gifts when they first met in 2011 because she wanted to be sure their relationship was based on love, not money. Alec Baldwin was 52 at the time, while Hilaria, then a yoga instructor, was 27.

The couple married in 2012 and have seven children together. Hilaria joked that having such a large family is proof she was never motivated by money, saying children are expensive and that "gold diggers" would not choose to have seven.

She also shared that she recently traveled alone with all of their children without Alec or a nanny. The experience made her realize her children needed to learn more basic household skills, such as loading a dishwasher and cleaning up after themselves.

Hilaria said she is now encouraging her children to become more independent, adding that they are making progress.
