Kristin Chenoweth Celebrates 58th 'Gotcha Day' with Tribute to Adoptive Parents

Kristin Chenoweth marked a personal milestone on July 30 by celebrating the 58th anniversary of her adoption. The Broadway star shared family photos on Instagram and thanked her adoptive parents, Jerry and Junie Chenoweth, for giving her "a beautiful life."

"Yesterday was my GOTCHA DAY (it's not just for pets!!)," Chenoweth wrote. "The day my parents brought me home 58 years ago and I became a Chenoweth."

The post included photos of Chenoweth with her parents over the years, including images from her Broadway Bootcamp, her 2023 wedding to musician Josh Bryant, and other family moments. Friends and fans, including Ricki Lake and Cecily Strong, joined in celebrating the occasion.

Chenoweth has often spoken about her adoption. In a 2015 essay for National Adoption Day, she said she had always known she was adopted and that her parents told her, "We chose you." She described adoption as "a full-circle blessing" and said she views Jerry and Junie as her parents.

She also expressed gratitude to her birth mother, saying she was given "a better life" through adoption and that she "came from love." Chenoweth added that if she ever had a child, she would "100 percent" adopt, while continuing to mentor and support young people through her work.
