The Grey's Anatomy and All My Children alum revealed on TikTok that she underwent a routine laparoscopic procedure but woke up to learn her aorta had been accidentally nicked during the operation. According to Rambin, doctors immediately performed emergency repair surgery and administered a blood transfusion.
"I woke up after surgery to many doctors and surgeons telling me they saved my life," Rambin said, adding that she was diagnosed with stage 1 endometriosis and uterine polyps. She also said the medical emergency forced her to leave an upcoming Netflix project.
In follow-up videos, Rambin said she remains grateful she underwent the procedure because it provided answers about her condition, despite the unexpected complication. She explained that the surgery was intended to relieve chronic pain and improve her fertility.
Rambin also addressed comments suggesting she should have chosen a specialist, saying her surgeon was an endometriosis specialist who acknowledged responsibility for the accidental injury. The actor described the incident as a rare surgical complication and said she is still processing what happened.
After being discharged from the intensive care unit, Rambin shared that she is recovering in the hospital with support from her husband and mother. She said doctors expect her to make a strong recovery.
Endometriosis is a condition in which tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, often causing chronic pain, scar tissue, cysts, and fertility problems.
