Scott Eastwood Says Famous Names Matter Less Than Hard Work

Scott Eastwood says he was relieved that his father, Clint Eastwood, and Tom Hanks did not visit the set of his new World War II film, Lucky Strike.

Speaking to PEOPLE in 10, Scott joked that having the two Hollywood stars on set would have added too much pressure. The movie also stars Tom Hanks' son, Colin Hanks.

Scott said that in the film industry, a famous last name matters less than being good at the job and treating others well. He added that an actor's success also depends on many factors, including timing, competition from other movies, and studio support.

The 40-year-old actor said his approach to acting has become more practical over the years. Instead of believing great performances require suffering, he now focuses on preparing well, enjoying the work, and helping create a positive atmosphere on set.

Lucky Strike, inspired by true events, follows American Army Captain John Castle, played by Scott Eastwood, as he struggles to survive behind enemy lines during the Battle of the Bulge. The film is now playing in theaters.
