Speaking on The Howard Stern Show, the Yellowstone creator recalled warning another man to stop interrupting him during a commercial audition. Sheridan said he told the man that if he interrupted again, he would hit him. When the interruptions continued, Sheridan said he punched him.
Believing he had ruined any chance of getting the job, Sheridan thanked everyone and left the audition. But when he returned to his talent agency, he was told he had been cast.
Sheridan later met the commercial's executive producer while filming. After learning who he was, Sheridan asked why he had been hired. According to Sheridan, the producer laughed and said he found the incident so funny that he had watched the audition footage dozens of times.
Sheridan went on to build a successful career as an actor before becoming one of television's best-known writers and producers. His credits include Yellowstone, Landman, The Madison, and acting roles in Sons of Anarchy, White Rush, and 12 Strong.
