T.I. Announces Retirement, Releases Final Album Kill the King

Rapper T.I. has announced that he is retiring from music after releasing his final album, Kill the King.

The 45-year-old Atlanta rapper, whose real name is Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., said he has been living a quiet life since the COVID-19 pandemic. He explained that he enjoys spending time at home and no longer wants to work as much as before.

T.I. said he wanted to release one last album to thank his fans instead of leaving music without saying goodbye. He said the album is his way of showing appreciation for all the support he has received throughout his career.

The rapper also shared the story behind the album's title. Early in his career, when he started calling himself the "King of the South," he asked several respected artists for their support. Outkast rapper Big Boi warned him that calling himself a king would make him a target. Big Boi told him that, in chess, the goal is to "kill the king." T.I. said he always remembered those words and decided that Kill the King would be the title of his final album.

T.I. also spoke about his hit single "Let 'Em Know," produced by Pharrell. He said he believed the song would be successful but did not expect how popular it would become. The song reached No. 1 on the Billboard R&B and Hip-Hop charts.

Looking ahead, T.I. said he is happy to see his sons, Domani and King, building their own careers as rappers. He said he feels he has achieved everything he hoped for in music and is ready to pass the spotlight to the next generation.
