Adam Scott Says He Has Been Sober for 12 Years

Actor Adam Scott says he has not had an alcoholic drink in about 12 years.

The “Severance” star, 53, shared the news during an appearance on Jake Shane’s “Therapuss” podcast on Thursday, Aug. 27. Scott said he was never a heavy drinker and gradually stopped drinking.

“I stopped drinking, like, 12 years ago,” Scott said. “And it wasn’t like a thing — I was never a big drinker. I just kind of faded it out.”

Scott did not share many details about why he quit alcohol, but said he has been feeling healthy. “I haven’t been sick in like, two years,” he said.

Scott’s comments come shortly after actress Anna Faris also spoke publicly about her decision to stop drinking. During an appearance on Chelsea Handler’s “Dear Chelsea” podcast, Faris said sobriety had helped her mental health and that she noticed a connection between drinking and depression in her own experience.

“I had to take a step back and not self-sabotage,” Faris said.

Handler noted that people’s relationship with alcohol can change as they get older, including changes in how much they want to drink and how it affects them.
