Anne Hathaway Says She Knows Her Baby’s Sex but Isn’t Revealing It

Anne Hathaway knows the sex of her third baby, but she is keeping the news private for now.

The 43-year-old actress appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, Aug. 10, where guest host Anthony Anderson tried to guess whether Hathaway and her husband, Adam Shulman, are expecting another boy.

“We know,” Hathaway said when Anderson made his guess. “[But] we’re not saying.”

The audience applauded her decision, prompting Hathaway to thank them. She admitted that she sometimes feels uncomfortable keeping details about her pregnancy private.

“Thank you for the support. It always feels so rude saying that,” she said, adding that she “feels bad” about not publicly revealing the baby’s sex.

Hathaway and Shulman are already parents to two sons, Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6. According to the actress, the entire family is thrilled about the new arrival.

“They’re over the moon,” Hathaway said. “It feels really beautiful. It feels like the family’s having a baby.”

She explained that although she will be the one giving birth, the pregnancy has become something the whole family is experiencing together.

“I mean, it’ll feel like I’m having a baby while it’s happening, but the emotional feeling is that we’re all going to welcome this little one,” she said.

Hathaway Responds to Pregnancy Rumors

Hathaway also addressed online speculation about her pregnancy after photos from the Los Angeles premiere of her new film, The End of Oak Street, sparked debate on social media.

At the Aug. 9 premiere, the actress showed her bare baby bump while wearing a silk crop top and low-rise jeans. Some social media users questioned whether her pregnancy was real, with several claiming that her bump looked artificial.

Hathaway appeared to respond directly to the speculation in an Instagram video posted Monday.

“Fake hair, real bump 😘 ✌️🦖🔥☀️🦕😅,” she wrote in the caption, jokingly making it clear that while some elements of her appearance were styled, her pregnancy was not.

She also gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at her trip to the film’s red carpet, joking about the intense Los Angeles heat and saying her outfit was “literally” melting during the event.

Hathaway Announced Her Pregnancy in June

The actress announced her third pregnancy on June 19 through Instagram.

In the video, Hathaway wore a flowing white dress and walked into view with her hands in front of her stomach. She smiled, cradled her baby bump and then ran out of the frame.

“x Baby, I’m yours x,” she wrote alongside the announcement.

Hathaway and Shulman have been married since 2012 and welcomed their first son, Jonathan, in 2016. Their second son, Jack, was born in 2019.

For now, the couple is choosing to keep one detail about their growing family to themselves: whether their newest arrival will be another boy or a girl.
