Ariana Madix Reveals What Fans Can Expect From the Love Island USA Reunion

The Love Island USA villa may have closed more than a month ago, but the drama is far from over.

Ariana Madix, who has hosted the Peacock dating show since season 6, says fans can expect plenty of heated moments when the season 8 reunion airs.

“Everybody came there ready to say exactly how they feel,” Madix told Entertainment Weekly. She said cast members arrived prepared to address issues, clear the air and discuss anything that had been bothering them.

According to Madix, those conversations took several unexpected turns. She believes the reunion provided the perfect ending to the season.

Fans will also see a significant amount of previously unaired footage. Madix said the unseen scenes helped explain several situations and “cleared up a lot of things.” Even she was seeing some of the footage for the first time.

The host teased an emotional reunion, promising “tears, laughter, and screams.”

One islander who surprised Madix was Sydney, the Casa Amor bombshell. When asked who showed up differently than she expected, Madix singled her out, although she warned that the reasons may not be what fans assume.

“She told us some things I thought were interesting,” Madix said.

Madix also addressed online rumors surrounding Trinity. Reports had circulated claiming that Trinity was removed from the reunion taping, but Madix strongly denied the speculation.

“People go online and they post things just for the engagement,” she said, adding that many claims she saw were “very off and untrue.”

She pointed to other examples of wild fan theories, including speculation that Kenzie and Melanie had been removed from the fire pit during a previous recoupling. Last season, fans even mistook a piece of a fake flower that had fallen on the villa floor for an IUD.

Madix said the internet's ability to turn small details into major theories still surprises her.

Away from the reunion drama, Madix is also celebrating an important career milestone. She has been nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program for her work on Love Island USA season 8.

She is competing against RuPaul, Alan Cumming, Kristen Kish and Jeff Probst. The Emmy Awards ceremony is scheduled for Sept. 14.

Madix said the nomination still feels surreal. She recently saw a Los Angeles billboard featuring her name alongside the Emmy nominees and said the moment made the achievement feel real.

The Love Island USA season 8 reunion, hosted by Madix and Andy Cohen, premieres Monday, Aug. 31, on Peacock.
