Harry Styles Pays Tribute to Dolly Parton After Her Death

Harry Styles paid tribute to Dolly Parton during his concert at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, Aug. 26, one day after the country music icon died at age 80.

During the show, Styles thanked the musicians who had inspired him, saying, “Dolly, we love you, thank you so much.” Her 1974 hit “I Will Always Love You” then played as fans turned on their phone lights and danced.

John Mayer also honored Parton that night, performing “I Will Always Love You” on guitar before moving into his song “Gravity” at a SiriusXM show in Amagansett, New York.

Parton died Tuesday, Aug. 25, after a brief battle with cancer, according to her representatives. Her family announced the death in a video shared on her Instagram, remembering her as a beloved aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and other stars also mourned Parton, whose career spanned decades. She sold more than 160 million albums worldwide and was known for her philanthropy, including the Imagination Library, which provides free books to young children.

Her Dollywood theme park in Tennessee will remain open. Park executives said Parton wanted the park to continue operating, reflecting her belief that “the show must go on.”
