Jason Dohring Trades Acting for Organic Farming

Jason Dohring, best known for playing Logan Echolls on Veronica Mars, has taken an unexpected career turn: organic farming.

The actor, who last appeared on screen in SEAL Team in 2021, became interested in gardening during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, he has run three farms and focused on growing high-quality food without chemical pesticides.

Dohring recently discussed his farming work on the podcast Don’t Do Nothing. He said he has worked on a 14-acre farm in West Virginia, where he planted about 3,500 fruit trees, including apples, pears, peaches, cherries and nectarines.

He said the farm has never been sprayed with chemical pesticides. Instead, he and his team used landscape fabric to protect the trees.

Dohring hopes to eventually grow enough food to supply 5,000 people and create a private market for customers who value high-quality produce.

Although farming is now his main focus, Dohring said he expects to return to acting. He recently appeared in a small short film and said working around art reminded him how much he enjoys performing.

“I really, honestly, just want to help people,” Dohring said, adding that he hopes to do so through farming, gardening, education or art.
