Joe Amabile Is Home After Surgery to Remove Brain Tumor, Wife Serena Pitt Says

Reality TV star Joe Amabile is home and recovering after undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumor, according to his wife, Serena Pitt.

Pitt, who is also a Bachelor Nation personality and cohost of the podcast Not Married to This, shared several photos from Amabile’s hospital stay in New York City on Instagram. She said the pictures captured “a few peaceful moments from the hospital” during what has been an emotional few days for the couple.

“Incredibly grateful to the team at NYU Langone Health for their endless patience, care, compassion, and kindness these past few days,” Pitt wrote.

She also confirmed that Amabile is now home recovering.

“Joe is home recovering, and we’re so grateful to have been in such good hands,” she added.

The photos show Amabile, 40, recovering in a hospital bed with bandages around his head. Other pictures show the couple walking hand in hand, Pitt comforting her husband as he rests, and Amabile brushing his teeth while medical equipment is attached to his chest.

Amabile, known to Bachelor Nation fans as “Grocery Store Joe,” previously gave his own update following the surgery. He told his followers that doctors “got it all” out of his brain.

The news prompted an outpouring of support from his friends and fellow Bachelor Nation stars. Kaitlyn Bristowe wrote, “HELLL YES THEY DID WHY AM I CRYING,” while Ashley Iaconetti commented, “Yayyyy!!! Praise! So so happy to see this update!!”

Matt James responded, “Amen!” and Dylan Efron wrote, “LETS GO.”

Amabile first revealed his diagnosis in July. He said doctors discovered an early-stage brain tumor after he underwent a full-body scan.

At the time, he described the growth as a “blueberry-sized lesion” in his brain that appeared to be a glioma, a type of tumor that develops from cells in the brain or spinal cord. He said he planned to have the tumor removed and have it tested before deciding on the next steps.

For now, Amabile is recovering at home with Pitt by his side. The couple has been together since meeting on Bachelor in Paradise. Amabile proposed during the season 7 finale in 2021, and the pair married in 2022.

The couple has not shared further details about the tumor’s test results or what treatment, if any, will follow the surgery.
