Laura Wright Confirms New ‘General Hospital’ Contract, Says She’s Not Going Anywhere

Laura Wright has confirmed she’s staying on General Hospital.

The actress, who has played Carly Spencer since 2005, revealed on social media that she has signed a new contract with the long-running ABC soap. Responding to a fan who said they would stop watching if she ever left, Wright simply wrote, “Just signed a new contract,” adding heart and star emojis.

Her announcement follows an Aug. 2 Instagram post in which Wright showed off her freshly colored, noticeably blonder hair and wrote, “Ready to head back to Port Charles!!! Let the fun begin.”

The confirmation comes amid a series of General Hospital cast changes, including Chris L. McKenna’s upcoming departure as Jack Brennan. Jack and Carly’s romance ended dramatically in May after he discovered she was hiding Valentin Cassadine.

Wright has also made headlines this summer for Carly’s confrontation with John Oliver’s character, WSB official Z. In one memorable scene, Carly slapped Oliver’s character—an idea the comedian himself reportedly requested.
