Josh Brolin, who plays CIA officer Matt Graver, recently told ScreenRant that “Sicario 3” is happening and that production is expected to begin soon. Brolin has appeared as Graver in both “Sicario” (2015) and “Sicario: Day of the Soldado” (2018).
The original film, directed by Denis Villeneuve, followed FBI agent Kate Macer (Emily Blunt) as she joined a government task force led by Graver and mysterious operative Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro) in the fight against Mexican drug cartels.
The sequel, directed by Stefano Sollima, returned Brolin and Del Toro but did not feature Blunt. Together, the two films have earned more than $160 million worldwide.
Taylor Sheridan, who wrote the first two films, has since become one of Hollywood’s busiest creators, overseeing projects including “Yellowstone,” “Landman,” “Lioness,” “Tulsa King” and “Mayor of Kingstown.” Details about the story and cast of the third “Sicario” film have not yet been announced.
