Tate Paul Asks Utah Court to Unseal Taylor Frankie Paul’s Drug Test Results

Tate Paul has asked a Utah court to unseal drug test results involving his ex-wife, reality television personality Taylor Frankie Paul, amid their ongoing custody dispute.

Tate filed the request Thursday, Aug. 13, in Salt Lake County District Court. A July 2 ruling required Taylor to undergo a 15-panel hair or nail drug test and a PEth alcohol test. The results were placed under a protective order, limiting access to Tate’s attorneys and preventing the results from being publicly shared.

The court ordered Taylor’s parenting time with the couple’s two children, Indy, 8, and Ocean, 6, to remain supervised while the testing was pending. The ruling said unsupervised visits could resume if the tests were negative. A positive result involving unprescribed drugs or excessive levels of prescribed medication would have kept visits supervised.

The court declined Taylor’s request for review on July 7, leaving the supervision requirement in place.

The request to unseal the results comes as the custody dispute continues. In June, Tate sought a restraining order and sole legal and physical custody, alleging erratic behavior by Taylor. She denied the allegations, and the court initially rejected the restraining order request, finding no evidence of an “immediate and irreparable” risk to the children.

Taylor also shares 2-year-old son Ever with former partner Dakota Mortensen. Utah’s Division of Child and Family Services filed a petition in July seeking a juvenile court determination regarding whether Taylor’s three children were abused, neglected or dependent, along with protective supervision and a guardian ad litem.

Taylor and Mortensen ended their on-and-off relationship in early 2026 after both made domestic violence allegations. Their separate custody dispute has included protective orders that were mutually granted for three years in April. Mortensen remains Ever’s custodial parent, while Taylor received expanded parenting time in June.

Taylor was also arrested in 2023 following an alleged domestic violence incident involving Mortensen. She later pleaded guilty in abeyance to aggravated assault. Under the terms of her plea agreement, the charge could be entered as a Class A misdemeanor if she completed three years of compliance.
