Taylor Sheridan Scraps Planned ‘6666’ ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff

Taylor Sheridan has officially put an end to plans for “6666,” the long-awaited “Yellowstone” spinoff that was supposed to take viewers inside his famous Four Sixes ranch in Texas.

Sheridan revealed the news Monday on the “Rodeo Time” podcast, saying the series will no longer be made. The creator of the “Yellowstone” universe explained that he could not bring himself to fictionalize the real ranch and the people who live and work there.

“There’s never going to be one; I would never fictionalize that ranch,” Sheridan said. “People thought that that was going to be a thing, but I would never do that.”

Sheridan said his main concern was respecting the ranch’s workers, including the cowboys and their families.

“Now I’m trivializing and fictionalizing something where real people work, and they raise their families there, and I could never do that to them,” he said.

He added that he feels a strong responsibility to protect the Four Sixes, which he described as something he is “very, very careful with.”

The “6666” series was originally announced by Paramount+ in February 2021. The planned spinoff was expected to follow Jimmy Hurdstrom, played by Jefferson White, after his time at the Four Sixes ranch.

White said last December that he was unaware of any active plans for the series. Although he had hoped to return to the “Yellowstone” world, he said he was thankful for the experience he had already received.

“I kept my fingers crossed, but also, I’d be grateful if I got to do more and I’m grateful for what I got to do,” White told the Daily Mail.

The Four Sixes is one of the most famous ranches in American cowboy culture. Sheridan and his investment group purchased the historic property for an estimated $350 million in early 2022.

The ranch consists of three separate properties and covers a vast area of West Texas, with views across the Brazos River Valley. The property also includes amenities such as a pool and spa.

Sheridan’s decision comes as little surprise given his increasingly close connection to ranching and the Western lifestyle. The television creator has become a familiar presence around his productions, including “Landman,” where he has been seen riding horses and keeping a horse trailer at the set’s base camp.

Those close to Sheridan have described him as deeply committed to the cowboy lifestyle. One industry insider previously told Page Six that Sheridan has a “big ego” and can spend considerable time teaching others how to rope a horse.

For “Yellowstone” fans, the cancellation means one less story in Sheridan’s expanding Western television universe. But for Sheridan, preserving the authenticity and privacy of the real Four Sixes ranch appears to be more important than turning it into another television set.
