Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Reacts to 'Wonder Man' Cancellation

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has responded after Marvel canceled Wonder Man, despite previously renewing the Disney+ series for a second season.

In a social media post, Abdul-Mateen thanked fans for supporting the show and said he was proud of its impact.

“Everything will shake out,” he wrote. “The show worked. That’s my favorite thing about it.” He added that he appreciated messages from viewers who said the series inspired them not to give up, and ended his post by saying, “See you at the Emmys.”

Released earlier this year, Wonder Man was co-created by Destin Daniel Cretton and received strong reviews from critics and audiences. Abdul-Mateen is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series at the upcoming Emmy Awards.

The series starred Abdul-Mateen as Simon Williams, an aspiring actor, alongside Ben Kingsley, who returned as Trevor Slattery. Earlier this year, Cretton and Kingsley had expressed hopes for a second season before the show was canceled.

Although Wonder Man will not continue, Abdul-Mateen is expected to appear later this year in David Fincher’s The Adventures of Cliff Booth.
