Donald Trump Praises Maria Bartiromo After Fox News Exit

Donald Trump has praised longtime television anchor Maria Bartiromo, calling her a “true warrior” after Fox News Media confirmed that she is leaving the company.

Trump, 80, shared his reaction on Truth Social on Thursday, Sept. 3, saying he was surprised by Bartiromo’s departure and praising her long career at Fox.

“I can’t believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on FoxNews/Business,” Trump wrote. “Three different shows, always number one. Maria is a total professional, and a true warrior.”

He also said Bartiromo’s many fans would be unhappy with the news and ended his message by wishing her well.

Bartiromo, 58, has been a familiar face in financial and political television for decades. She first gained national attention at CNBC, where she hosted programs including Closing Bell and On the Money with Maria Bartiromo.

She joined Fox in 2014 as Fox Business Network’s global markets editor. During her more than 12 years with the company, she became one of its best-known anchors and interviewed Trump several times. She also co-moderated two Republican presidential debates during the 2016 election cycle.

Fox News Media announced her departure Thursday, thanking her for her “work over the last 12 ½ years” and wishing her well in her “next chapter.” The company did not give a reason for the decision.

Bartiromo’s former morning program, Mornings with Maria, will be replaced by Mornings with Fox Business beginning Friday, Sept. 4.

Her other programs are also being reshaped. Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street will be renamed FBN’s Wall Street, with Cheryl Casone hosting its return. Fox said rotating anchors will take over the program afterward.

Bartiromo’s last appearance on Fox Business Network was Aug. 7, while her final appearance on Fox News Channel came Aug. 9.

Fox also announced a change to its Sunday political lineup. Sunday Morning Futures will be hosted by Jason Chaffetz on Sunday, Sept. 6. The network said a permanent host will be announced later.

The changes come as Fox Business prepares to introduce a new weekday programming schedule in the coming weeks.

Bartiromo’s departure adds to a series of major anchor changes at Fox in recent years. The network parted ways with Tucker Carlson in 2023, while Bill O’Reilly left Fox News in 2017 following sexual harassment allegations.

For now, Bartiromo’s next move remains unclear. But Trump’s public praise highlights the strong profile she built among viewers during her years covering Wall Street, business and politics.
