Elliot Page Says He Feels Ready for His Best Work Yet

Elliot Page says he is still looking for his next major acting role and believes his best work may be ahead of him.

Speaking on the On Film… With Kevin McCarthy podcast, the 39-year-old actor joked that Hollywood should give him a call. “If someone wants to call me,” Page said, before adding humorously that he may face some “pushback” for being Canadian.

Page also reflected on his experience working with Christopher Nolan on Inception. Although he enjoyed making the 2010 film and collaborating with Nolan, he said he was personally uncomfortable at the time.

“I had such a great time being in that movie,” Page said. “But I was also personally really uncomfortable.”

He compared that experience with playing Sinon in Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey, saying he now feels more comfortable and connected to himself. Page said that greater sense of confidence has allowed him to approach performances differently.

“I feel like I could maybe do some of my best work now,” he said.

Page described reuniting with Nolan for The Odyssey as a “full-circle moment.” He said he cried after wrapping the film, explaining that feeling more “embodied and connected” has helped him let go more fully as an actor.

Based on Homer’s epic poem, The Odyssey follows Odysseus, played by Matt Damon, as he attempts to return home to Ithaca after the Trojan War. Page plays Sinon, a role that drew transphobic backlash after his casting was announced.

Page said the experience of making the film felt particularly meaningful because of how much more comfortable he now feels in his own skin.
