Jimmy Kimmel Wins Another Emmy for Game Show Hosting

Jimmy Kimmel has added another Emmy to his collection, winning Outstanding Host for a Game Show for his work on ABC’s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

The win marks Kimmel’s second straight victory in the category. He also took home the award last year for hosting the same show.

Kimmel beat out a strong group of nominees, including Steve Harvey of Celebrity Family Feud, Ken Jennings of Jeopardy!, Colin Jost of Pop Culture Jeopardy! and Martin Short of Match Game.

After accepting the award at the Peacock Theater, Kimmel joked about the decision to place the category early in the ceremony.

“Thank you to whoever decided to put our category first because we won last year and it was nothing but seat fillers,” Kimmel said.

ABC dominated the category, with most of the nominated shows coming from the network. The exception was Pop Culture Jeopardy!, which moved from Amazon in its first season to Netflix for its second.

Kimmel Eyes Another Emmy

Kimmel’s latest win could add momentum as he heads toward the Primetime Emmys on September 14. His late-night program, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, is among the nominees for Outstanding Variety Series.

The show will compete against The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Daily Show, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and Saturday Night Live. The category has been reshaped following the merger of the former Outstanding Talk Series and Outstanding Scripted Variety Series categories.

However, Kimmel’s personal victory did not translate into a win for Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

Jeopardy! Keeps Its Winning Streak

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire once again lost the Outstanding Game Show award to Jeopardy!.

The long-running quiz show has now won the category four years in a row since it moved out of the daytime Emmys in 2023.

Jeopardy! defeated Celebrity Family Feud, The Price Is Right, Wheel of Fortune and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire to claim another victory.

The show is executive produced by Michael Davies, with Sarah Whitcomb Foss and Bari Jean Dorman serving as co-executive producers.

For Kimmel, though, the night still delivered a major achievement: another Emmy for his work behind the Millionaire podium and another chance to build momentum heading into the Primetime Emmys.
