Lionel Richie Hospitalized After St. Louis Performance

ST. LOUIS — Singer Lionel Richie has been hospitalized after performing in St. Louis over the weekend and is being evaluated for possible dehydration, according to sources close to the singer.

Richie checked himself into a local hospital following his Saturday night performance at the Muny in Forest Park. He is currently in the intensive care unit and hopes to be discharged Tuesday, sources told TMZ, which first reported the hospitalization.

During the closing performance of his 1983 hit “All Night Long,” Richie reportedly asked for a chair and performed part of the song while seated, according to local radio station 104.1 FM KMOX. Video from the concert also shows the singer sitting during the performance.

The hospitalization comes after Richie experienced a similar health issue in June. During the opening show of his tour in St. Paul, Minnesota, he told the audience he felt dizzy and needed to sit down. He later joked about performing “Dancing on the Ceiling” while seated.

Richie returned to the tour with Earth, Wind & Fire more than a week later, performing in Pittsburgh and acknowledging the concerns surrounding his health.

The Grammy-winning singer postponed several tour dates following his June health scare. He is not currently scheduled to perform again until Sept. 26 at San Francisco’s Chase Center.

Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire launched their “Sing a Song All Night Long” tour in 2023. After an initial 20-city arena run through 2024, the two acts resumed the tour in 2026.

Richie’s current schedule extends through Jan. 30, 2027, when he is set to perform at Lucas Oil Live in Thackerville, Oklahoma, following a six-date Las Vegas residency.
