Bebe Rexha Says She’s Still Searching for the Right Partner After Recent Heartbreak

Bebe Rexha is speaking candidly about her personal life following the release of her new independent album, Dirty Blonde, which arrived this week after her departure from her former record label in 2025.

In an interview with PEOPLE, the 33-year-old singer discussed the inspirations behind several songs on the album, including tracks that reflect on heartbreak, personal growth and the value of time.

Rexha said songs such as “The Way I Want You” and “Required Love” were inspired by the end of a significant relationship.

“I finally fell in love with somebody that I felt like could be the one, or was the one, and then getting broken up with was hard,” she told the magazine. “I've never been in that situation.”

Another song on the album, “Time,” explores feelings of having spent too long in situations that no longer served her, whether in a past relationship or her former professional environment.

“I think the most expensive currency in life is time,” Rexha said. “You could look back and think about all the years you've lost in a bad relationship or in anything in your life, but you've got to move forward.”

The singer also addressed her ongoing health challenges. In May 2025, Rexha publicly revealed that she had experienced a pregnancy loss. She shared the information after facing widespread online criticism and comments about her weight following her appearance at the 2025 Met Gala.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Rexha wrote that she has PCOS, or polycystic ovary syndrome, and struggles with infertility. She said she became pregnant but later lost the pregnancy, adding that she had been carrying the pain privately.

Rexha has frequently spoken about PCOS, a hormonal condition that can contribute to weight fluctuations, fertility difficulties and other health complications.

Reflecting on her experiences, she said it is important to discuss women's health issues openly.

“I think it's really important to be open about that,” Rexha said. “People still don't understand it because we haven't done so much research with women's bodies.”

The singer added that heartbreak can take many forms beyond romantic relationships.

“You could still feel the feelings,” she said. “They can come through, and you could feel sad some days — as long as you're moving forward.”

Rexha also revealed that she is currently focused on finding a long-term partner and hopes to eventually start a family.

“I'm still searching,” she said, explaining that her busy career has made dating difficult.

According to Rexha, qualities she values in a partner include strong morals, good communication skills and emotional maturity. She also said she wants someone who is financially responsible and willing to contribute equally in a relationship.

“First and foremost, they've got to be a good person,” she said. “They have to have good morals, good communication, good attachment styles. And they need to be able to work on themselves.”

Rexha's comments come after her highly publicized breakup with cinematographer Keyan Safyari in 2023. The relationship ended after she shared a screenshot of a text message allegedly sent by Safyari discussing her weight gain. Weeks later, she confirmed the breakup during a concert in London.

Since then, Rexha has largely kept her dating life private, although she says potential suitors continue to reach out through social media. While some have highlighted their wealth, Rexha said she prefers sincerity and genuine connection over displays of money.

With Dirty Blonde, Rexha is using her music to reflect on personal setbacks, health struggles and relationships while emphasizing resilience and moving forward.
