Soccer player Lucas Trejo mourns family after Venezuela earthquakes

Argentine soccer player Lucas Trejo is mourning the deaths of his wife, Yanina Maranella, and their children, Aarón and Ainhoa, after powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela.

Trejo was in Caracas training with Club Sport Marítimo de la Guaira when the earthquakes hit. His family was reportedly in their apartment in La Guaira, where their building collapsed. After initially being reported missing, Trejo's wife and children were later confirmed dead in messages shared by Deportivo La Guaira and fellow player Edson Tortolero, who also asked for privacy and respect for the family.

The earthquakes, reported as magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5, caused widespread destruction across Venezuela. More than 900 people have been killed, thousands injured, and tens of thousands remain missing as rescue teams continue search efforts.
