Ashley Tisdale to Star in Netflix's Toxic Moms Inspired by Viral Essay

Ashley Tisdale is set to star in Toxic Moms, a new 30-minute dark comedy series at Netflix alongside Ali Wong and Sabrina Jalees, according to Deadline. The show follows a new mother who joins a group of wealthy, popular moms before discovering the group's darker side.

The series is based on an original idea inspired by Tisdale's experience as a mother of two and her January essay for The Cut, "Breaking Up with My Toxic Mom Group." In the essay, Tisdale described feeling excluded by a group of fellow mothers and eventually leaving after deciding the dynamic had become unhealthy.

After the essay was published, fans speculated about the identities of the moms involved. Tisdale's representative denied online claims linking the story to Mandy Moore, Hilary Duff, or Meghan Trainor.

Tisdale announced the new series on Instagram, joking, "I guess we all can be a little toxic." Netflix has not yet announced a release date.
