Beartooth Singer Caleb Shomo and Wife Fleur File for Divorce After His Coming Out

Caleb Shomo, the lead singer of the metalcore band Beartooth, and his wife, Fleur Shomo, have filed for divorce after 14 years of marriage.

According to court records, the couple filed for divorce together in Los Angeles earlier this week. They do not have any children.

The filing comes about two months after Caleb publicly shared that he is gay. On May 23, he posted a message on Instagram saying he is "a proudly gay man." He described coming to this realization as a difficult and emotional journey.

After Caleb's announcement, Fleur shared a supportive message. She admitted that she felt hurt and confused but said she would continue to love and support him. She also encouraged fans to show him kindness.

Many fans praised Caleb for being honest about his identity. Some said it takes great courage to come out later in life, especially after being in a long marriage. Others also praised Fleur for responding with understanding and compassion.

At the same time, some people criticized Caleb, saying they felt sorry for Fleur because of the years they spent together. Others argued that coming out later in life does not automatically mean someone intentionally misled their partner, especially when growing up in environments where being openly gay can be difficult.

During an appearance on the "Disrespectfully" podcast in June, Caleb spoke about the emotional conversation he had with Fleur when he came out. He said he was crying and struggled to find the right words because he was scared and overwhelmed.

He said he told her there was something he had been avoiding for a long time and that he no longer wanted to hide it.

Caleb also revealed that he began therapy soon after coming out. He said he knows he has a long journey ahead as he works on accepting himself and healing.

The singer has previously spoken openly about his struggles with anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders, and substance abuse. He has also discussed growing up in a strict religious household, which shaped many of his personal challenges.

After leaving the band Attack Attack!, Caleb formed Beartooth. Much of the band's music has focused on mental health, addiction, and personal growth.

Earlier this year, Beartooth released the song "Free." Caleb said the track marked the beginning of a new chapter in both his life and his music. He described the upcoming album as the most honest expression of himself he has ever created.

Fans responded positively to the song, with many saying they were happy to see Caleb embracing his true self after years of personal struggles. Supporters also shared messages celebrating his courage and wishing him happiness.

Beartooth bassist Oshie Bichar has publicly expressed his support for Caleb following the announcement.
