Bijou Phillips Recovering After Successful Kidney Transplant

Bijou Phillips is recovering at home after receiving a kidney transplant.

The 46-year-old actress shared on Instagram that her brother, Aron Wilson, joined a kidney exchange program and donated one of his kidneys to help another patient. As part of the program, Phillips was matched with a compatible donor a few weeks later.

Phillips was born with underdeveloped kidneys and has faced kidney disease throughout her life. She received her first transplant from a friend in 2017, but the kidney later failed after rejection caused by the BK virus, forcing her to return to dialysis.

In her post, Phillips thanked her brother, her doctors, nurses, and the medical team at UCLA. She said her recovery has been much easier than after her first transplant and that she needed only Tylenol for pain.

Friends, including Paris Hilton, Liv Tyler, Natasha Lyonne, and Amy Purdy, congratulated her and wished her a smooth recovery.

Phillips shares an 11-year-old daughter with her former husband, actor Danny Masterson.
