Jada Pinkett Smith Faces New Deposition Request in Ongoing Lawsuit

Will Smith's former friend, Bilaal Salaam, is asking a judge to order Jada Pinkett Smith to appear for a deposition in his ongoing lawsuit against her.

According to court filings obtained by TMZ, Salaam says he scheduled a deposition for May 20, but Pinkett Smith did not attend. He wants to question her about alleged communications concerning him and claims she authorized threats against him after he planned to publish a memoir about the Smith family.

Salaam alleges Pinkett Smith became upset after he refused to help Will Smith manage the fallout from Smith's 2022 Oscars slap of Chris Rock. Pinkett Smith has denied the allegations, and the court has already dismissed most of Salaam's claims.

In a filing, Pinkett Smith's legal team argues she was previously deposed in a separate lawsuit brought by Salaam that involved many of the same issues. Her attorneys say any additional deposition, if allowed, should be limited to one hour.

The judge has not yet ruled on Salaam's request.
