Tyler reportedly died in a hospital in Portugal after being treated for a serious illness. She had been in intensive care following emergency intestinal surgery earlier this year.
Born Gaynor Hopkins in Wales, Tyler became famous for her distinctive raspy voice after throat surgery in the 1970s. During her career, she released 18 albums, earned three Grammy nominations, represented the UK at Eurovision in 2013, and was appointed an MBE in 2022 for services to music.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Sullivan.
