Courtney Stodden thanks Jason Alexander for apology and charity donation

Courtney Stodden has thanked actor Jason Alexander after he apologised for his role in a 2012 comedy sketch and donated US$15,000 to the charity Unchained At Last.

In an Instagram post, Stodden said they were "grateful" for the donation, praising Alexander for taking meaningful action after acknowledging the incident. They said accountability should lead to positive change and encouraged others to support the organisation, which works to end child marriage in the United States.

The apology came after Stodden criticised Alexander over a Funny or Die sketch filmed in 2012, when Stodden was 17 and Alexander was 52. Stodden alleged Alexander touched their breast with his phone during the sketch without prior warning and later described the experience as inappropriate and damaging.

In a statement, Alexander said he agreed the sketch was inappropriate and apologised for any harm or distress it caused. He said he sincerely regretted taking part.

After the apology, Stodden suggested Alexander support Unchained At Last and back California Assembly Bill 1267, which aims to ban child marriage in the state.

Stodden, who married actor Doug Hutchison when they were 16 and he was 51, said speaking out was about protecting children and holding adults in positions of power to a higher standard rather than revisiting the past.
