Craig Melvin Safe After Intruder Enters Today Show Studio

Craig Melvin says he is safe after an intruder entered the Today show studio at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City on Thursday morning.

According to NBC News, a man entered the studio around 9 a.m. and approached Melvin while shouting racial slurs. The man also reportedly asked for co-host Al Roker after getting past security.

Melvin later shared on Instagram that he was "doing just fine" and thanked everyone who reached out to check on him.

NBC said Melvin alerted security, and the man was quickly detained by security staff and taken into police custody without any injuries or physical confrontation. The network said it is cooperating with law enforcement and reviewing its security procedures.

The New York Police Department said officers responded to a report of a disorderly person at 30 Rockefeller Center around 9:19 a.m. An individual was taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing.

According to court records viewed by People, the man was identified as Andrew Truelove. He has not yet been charged.
