Crystal Harris Says She Regrets Marrying Hugh Hefner

Crystal Harris says she regrets marrying Playboy founder Hugh Hefner and has spoken openly about why.

In a recent Instagram video, Harris said she regrets believing that marrying one of the world's most famous men gave her value. She said she spent years staying quiet, making herself smaller, and losing her sense of self during their relationship.

Harris appeared on The Girls Next Door, married Hefner in 2012, and stayed with him until his death in 2017. She also shared her experiences in her 2024 memoir, Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself.

She said she is grateful for the person she became after leaving that chapter of her life, but still regrets the marriage itself.

Actor Jon Lovitz, a longtime friend of Hefner, criticized Harris in the comments on her video. He questioned whether she also regretted the financial support and home she received from Hefner. Many social media users defended Harris, saying she has the right to tell her own story.

After Hefner's death, several former Playmates and girlfriends accused him of abuse and misconduct. These allegations were featured in the 2022 documentary series Secrets of Playboy. Playboy said it supports the women who came forward. In her memoir, Harris also described troubling experiences at the Playboy Mansion and said many women were left emotionally harmed.
