Daveigh Chase Left $400,000 Estate After Her Death

Court records show that actress Daveigh Chase, who died on June 16 at the age of 35, left behind an estate worth about $400,000.

On July 8, her mother, Cathy Chase, asked the court to appoint her as the administrator of the estate, according to documents reviewed by Entertainment Weekly.

Daveigh Chase was best known for her roles in The Ring and as the voice of Lilo in Lilo & Stitch.

According to TMZ, her boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, said she had been suffering from meningitis and a serious blood infection that led to sepsis in the days before her death. The report also said she had been hospitalized earlier because of malnutrition.

Officials later determined that her cause of death was acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Drug use was listed as a significant contributing condition.

In a June interview with the Daily Mail, Cathy Chase said her daughter developed an addiction to painkillers after hurting her back in a motorcycle accident in 2016.

Cathy said Daveigh later became involved with people who introduced her to drugs, and her addiction worsened. She also said her daughter had PTSD but had not been diagnosed with any other mental health condition.

Daveigh had several encounters with law enforcement and was jailed. Cathy said the last time she saw her daughter was in jail in 2019. She planned to bring her home after her release, but Daveigh was gone before she arrived.

After that, Cathy searched for her daughter several times in Los Angeles' Skid Row but was unable to find her.

Daveigh Chase also experienced homelessness during the final years of her life.

Cathy said she learned about her daughter's death through news reports and described the loss as heartbreaking.
