David Harbour Teases Clash Between New Avengers and Original Team in Avengers: Doomsday

David Harbour has hinted at tension between the New Avengers and the original Avengers in Marvel's upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Harbour, who plays Red Guardian (Alexei Shostakov), said the two teams have very different approaches.

"There’s trouble for sure," Harbour said. "We definitely approach things differently than those guys and we have different ideas about how to do things. Clearly, we are right, but not everyone agrees with us."

Lewis Pullman, who plays Bob Reynolds/Sentry, agreed, saying the New Avengers take "an unexpected route" to reach the same goal.

The New Avengers were formed after the events of Thunderbolts, where the team—including Bucky Barnes, Yelena Belova, Ghost and John Walker—was rebranded following its mission to save New York City.

Meanwhile, the original Avengers have been largely inactive since Avengers: Endgame. However, Sam Wilson's Captain America has announced plans to assemble a new team.

Avengers: Doomsday will also feature the Fantastic Four and characters from the original X-Men films as they unite against Victor Von Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released in cinemas on 18 December.
