Dwayne Johnson Hopes to Make His Broadway Debut with Kevin Hart

Dwayne Johnson says he still hopes to perform on Broadway with his close friend Kevin Hart.

In a new interview with PEOPLE, Johnson shared that they have been trying to make it happen for the past two and a half to three years. He joked that he revealed the news because he had been drinking tequila.

Johnson said they wanted to star together in a new Broadway production of The Odd Couple, which would be produced by Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller. However, Hart's busy schedule has made it difficult.

"Kevin is my best friend. I love him, but he's booked for the next three to five years," Johnson said. "I understand and respect that."

Johnson and Hart have worked together in several movies, including Central Intelligence, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and Jumanji: The Next Level. They will also appear together in Jumanji: Open World, which is set to be released in theaters on December 25.

Even if Hart cannot join him, Johnson said he still wants to perform on Broadway. He is talking with Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail about a possible stage project.

Johnson joked that it could even be a musical, saying he might sing, dance, and have fun on stage.

The Odd Couple is a famous comedy written by Neil Simon. It first opened on Broadway in 1965 and became a big success. Over the years, it has been adapted into movies, TV shows, and several stage productions.
