Rosie O'Donnell Says She Left Her Hit Talk Show After Saving $100 Million

Rosie O'Donnell has shared why she decided to leave The Rosie O'Donnell Show at the height of its success.

In an interview with Page Six, the 64-year-old comedian said she chose to quit after learning she had saved about $100 million. She said she felt she had enough money to take care of her family, support charities, and help others.

O'Donnell said she wanted to spend more time with her children. She wanted to attend their softball games, school plays, and other important moments instead of continuing her busy television career.

Her talk show aired from 1996 to 2002 and was very successful. Warner Bros. reportedly offered her another $100 million to continue the show for two more years, but she turned down the offer.

She said she did not need more money and believed that always wanting more would be unhealthy. O'Donnell also said she does not understand why some very wealthy people focus only on making more money instead of helping others.

O'Donnell recently returned to the United States for a limited Broadway run of her one-woman show, Common Knowledge. She had moved to Ireland after the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

In the show, she talks about her childhood, including losing her mother to breast cancer when she was 10 years old. She also shares stories about raising her youngest child, Clay, who has autism.

O'Donnell said becoming a mother has been the most important part of her life. She added that raising Clay has given her a different perspective on parenting and has brought them even closer.
