Eva Mendes celebrates Ryan Gosling’s Ghost Rider casting

Eva Mendes has praised longtime partner Ryan Gosling after he was cast as Ghost Rider in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Mendes marked the announcement by sharing clips from The Place Beyond the Pines (2012), the film where the couple met. The movie features Gosling as a motorcycle stunt performer, prompting Mendes to write on Instagram that she thought he would be "a perfect casting for Ghost Rider."

She also signed the post "Love, Roxy," referencing her role as Roxanne Simpson in the 2007 Ghost Rider film starring Nicolas Cage. On her Instagram Stories, Mendes shared another post linking her past role with Gosling’s new one, calling it a "beautiful parallel universe connection."

Marvel officially announced Gosling’s casting during its Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con. The actor appeared on stage after a blackout and said Ghost Rider was a character he had wanted to play for a long time.

The standalone Ghost Rider film will be directed by Shawn Levy and is scheduled for release in 2028. Levy previously directed Deadpool & Wolverine and is also working with Gosling on Star Wars: Starfighter, due in 2027.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said the project came together after Gosling and Levy pitched their idea for the film. Feige praised both men and said Marvel quickly agreed to move forward with the project.
