Friends appeal for information on missing musician Linda Perhacs

Friends and longtime collaborators of psychedelic folk musician Linda Perhacs have appealed for information about her whereabouts, saying they have been unable to contact the 82-year-old for several months.

A joint Instagram post shared on Monday by former manager Laurel Stearns, musicians Julia Holter and Mark "Frosty" McNeill, and music video director Jessica Hundley said Perhacs was discharged from a residential care facility about eight months ago under the supervision of her legal guardian.

The group said they have since been unable to reach Perhacs and that repeated attempts to contact her guardian have reportedly gone unanswered. They asked the public to help confirm that she is safe and well.

In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Stearns said there are no allegations of wrongdoing. Instead, friends are seeking reassurance that Perhacs is safe, receiving appropriate care and able to communicate with those close to her. Stearns added that their main concern is ensuring she is "safe and comfortable".

Perhacs, a Los Angeles native, was discovered while working as a dental hygienist by Oscar-winning composer Leonard Rosenman, who helped her secure a record deal. Her 1970 debut album, Parallelograms, later became a cult classic after being reissued, leading to a career revival.

She returned to recording with The Soul of All Natural Things in 2014, followed by I'm a Harmony in 2017. Her work has since earned admiration from artists including Julia Holter, Fleet Foxes singer Robin Pecknold and others, many of whom have expressed concern following the public appeal.
