Hasan Piker Criticizes Reported Taxpayer-Funded Security for Swift-Kelce Wedding

Hasan Piker criticized Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce over reports that taxpayer-funded security was used for their wedding events in New York City.

On his online show, Piker called the reported public spending "a dramatic misuse of public resources" and said it was "a bad look" for a billionaire couple. He argued that using public funds for security at a lavish celebrity wedding highlighted economic inequality.

Swift and Kelce celebrated their marriage with a multi-day event in Manhattan that reportedly cost about $15 million and included around 1,000 guests. The celebrations at Madison Square Garden required street closures and a large police presence for crowd control.

TMZ estimated the New York Police Department's security costs for the wedding and rehearsal dinner at about $160,000. However, it remains unclear whether those costs will be paid by the couple or by New York City taxpayers.

The wedding took place Friday evening, with the reception continuing into Saturday morning, according to city permit records obtained by the Associated Press.
