Four women accused Leto of criminal sexual conduct. One woman alleged she had sex with Leto when she was 17 at his California home, where the age of consent is 18. Another claimed she was sexually assaulted in a motel bathroom at age 17. A third alleged Leto threatened her with sexual assault when she was 19, while a fourth said he groomed her and made repeated sexually explicit phone calls to her when she was 16.
The BBC documentary, Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, also features accounts from other women. One said Leto made a sexual comment to her when she was 14 at a music festival. Another alleged he made threatening sexual remarks after inviting her to a hotel room when she was 19.
The BBC said it corroborated parts of several accounts through friends, family, messages and photographs. Two former associates of Leto's band, Thirty Seconds to Mars, also told the broadcaster they were uncomfortable with his interactions with teenage girls.
According to the BBC, Leto did not respond to its requests for comment.
The new allegations follow a June 2025 Air Mail investigation in which nine women accused Leto of inappropriate sexual behaviour, including some allegations involving underage girls. At the time, Leto's representative denied all allegations, calling them "expressly" and "demonstrably" false. No criminal charges related to these allegations have been announced.
