Jesse Eisenberg Says He Has No Plans to Leave the U.S. Despite Trump Presidency

Jesse Eisenberg says he has no intention of leaving the United States because of President Donald Trump's return to office, despite recently becoming a Polish citizen.

Speaking at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic, Eisenberg said he feels fortunate to live in the U.S. and believes he has a responsibility to stay.

"I am a very lucky American. I have a nice life," he said, adding that he and his wife, a teacher, want to remain in New York and help people facing difficult circumstances.

Eisenberg received Polish citizenship in 2025 after applying following the making of A Real Pain, a film inspired by his family's history. His great-aunt fled Poland for the United States in 1938.

He rejected the idea of moving abroad because of politics, saying, "I'm not going to leave because I don't like the politics of America. That seems a little silly, because my life is very good."

His comments come after several celebrities said they would leave the U.S. if Trump returned to the White House. Some, including Rosie O'Donnell, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, have since relocated abroad, while others such as Mark Hamill said they considered leaving but ultimately decided to stay.
