Kat Dennings Laughs Off Forgetting Her Own Marvel Fame

Actress Kat Dennings says she briefly forgot she was part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe while visiting Disneyland with her husband, Andrew W.K., and their stepchildren.

Speaking on the July 29 episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, Dennings said guests at Avengers Campus kept waving at her. At first, she thought people were simply being friendly before realizing they recognized her as Darcy Lewis, the character she plays in Marvel films.

Dennings joked that she was wearing a flannel shirt, glasses and a hat, making her look just like Darcy. She said she rarely thinks about her Marvel role when she is not working and doesn't consider herself especially famous.

Dennings first appeared as Darcy Lewis in 2011's Thor and returned in Thor: The Dark World, WandaVision, What If...?, and Thor: Love and Thunder. She also shared the Disneyland story on Threads in April 2025, saying she had forgotten why people were waving at her.

She is not the first Marvel actor to have a memory lapse about the franchise. In 2019, Gwyneth Paltrow forgot she had appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming until director Jon Favreau reminded her during an episode of The Chef Show.
