Lauren Tom Reveals Daughter Ellie Has Osteosarcoma, Asks Fans for Prayers

Actress Lauren Tom has shared that her daughter, Ellie, has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma, the most common form of bone cancer.

In an emotional Instagram post on Sunday, the Friends alum introduced followers to her “beautiful daughter” and revealed that their family is doing everything possible to support her treatment and recovery.

“This is my beautiful daughter, Ellie. She is currently battling osteosarcoma (bone cancer) and my family and I are doing everything we can to aid in her healing,” Tom wrote.

Drawing inspiration from a quote by Fred Rogers about “looking for the helpers,” Tom expressed heartfelt gratitude to friends, family, and the medical team at Cedars-Sinai for their “boundless support, love, and care.”

She also praised Ellie as “an amazing, deep, sensitive, wise, strong, brave, intelligent, and funny soul,” before asking followers to keep her daughter in their prayers and leave encouraging messages on social media.

The post prompted an outpouring of support from fans and fellow entertainers, including Clancy Brown, Ken Jeong, Lilan Bowden, and Grey DeLisle. Tom later thanked everyone for their compassion, saying the family had read every comment and felt deeply grateful for the love and prayers.

Tom also left a touching message on Ellie’s Instagram account, writing, “You are strong, brave and will recover from this completely to live a beautiful, meaningful life. You are so loved, Ellie.”

According to the American Cancer Society, osteosarcoma most often develops in the bones near the knee or shoulder and is typically treated with a combination of surgery and chemotherapy.
