Medical Examiner Releases New Details on James Ransone's Death

According to the information provided, officials have released details about the December 2025 death of actor James Ransone.

A Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's report, reviewed by Entertainment Weekly, ruled his death a suicide. The report said Ransone had a history of suicidal thoughts and had recently said he wanted to kill himself and needed hospital care for mental health issues.

Ransone was last seen alive on Dec. 19 and was later found unresponsive in a shed, where paramedics pronounced him dead. Investigators found prescription medications and small white pouches at the scene but reported no signs of drug or alcohol use, no suicide note, and no evidence of foul play.

Best known for The Wire and It: Chapter Two, Ransone had previously spoken openly about his past addiction to prescription drugs and heroin, as well as earlier suicide attempts. He said he entered rehab in 2006 and had remained sober afterward.
