Melissa Gilbert discovers three biological brothers at age 62

Actor Melissa Gilbert has revealed that she recently found three older biological brothers on her birth mother's side after connecting with a distant relative through a genealogy app.

In an Instagram post, the Little House on the Prairie star said she discovered brothers Matt, Laird, and Mark, who has since died. Gilbert said she and Matt are already becoming close and plan to share more about their family's adoption story on Substack.

Matt also shared the news on Instagram, saying the most meaningful part of the discovery was finally finding his sister after a lifetime apart.

Gilbert, who was adopted as a newborn, said she loves both the family that raised her and the biological relatives she has come to know. She previously found half-siblings on her birth father's side, but described those relationships as difficult. She also said her family is still trying to contact another half-sibling.

Gilbert has said she began searching for her birth parents after becoming a mother in 1989, and called the recent discoveries another unexpected chapter in her life.
